Can one air purifier purify an entire home?
A single portable air purifier (one that plugs into the wall outlet) cannot. An air filter can only purify a portion of the air in a single room, since it only cleans the air that actually passes through the unit. Most of the airborne particles in a single room will not pass through a stationary filter, much less an entire home. Even a portable ozone and negative ion combination air purifier cannot cover an entire home. To begin with, the negative ions will only travel as much as “one room’s” distance away from the negative ionizer, regardless of how powerful the unit is. This is due to the fact that negative ions only live for 30 seconds or less. Negative ions do not pass through walls either, although they can penetrate into porous materials like walls or furniture.
