Can Pancreatic Cancer be cured?
If detected early, pancreatic cancer can be cured by surgery in combination with chemotherapy. However, a majority of the patients have advanced disease when they present, which is not suitable for surgical treatment. Secondly, there is a reservation on the part of the physicians to refer these cases to surgeons and among surgeons and patients to undertake the major surgical resection. The bottom line is that surgery is the only curative option in pancreatic cancer.
