Yes. Students apply as normal. There are no longer any separate rules for students writing up.top ATAS – The Academic Technology Approval Scheme Since November 30th 2007, students applying for entry clearance or to extend their stay in the UK who study certain science, technology and engineering subjects must first apply for an ATAS certificate. The government’s aim is to prevent the spread of knowledge of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Students need to know the JACS code for their course and they then check the code against the list of courses on the UK foreign office website to find out if they need the certificate. The JACS code is listed on all offer letters and all Visa letters. The foreign office have stated that applications should take about 10 days to process but they can take up to three weeks or longer.
