Can pregnancy be the reason for a sudden stop in lactation?

actually it’s not true to just stop, some do it for two years to there two year olds, but unless your ovalulating that’s the only thing it can be.

It could be lots of things. First thing to do is see a doctor but be sure baby is getting plenty of nourishment. Bottle feeding may not be what you had in mind but if you stopped lactating there isn’t much else you can do. Give doctor all symptoms you can think of, anything different or unusual can cause you to stop. Most women (90%) will not ovulate while lactating.
