Can proton torpedoes bypass shields?
Can some types of proton torpedo bypass shields? They do this in the computer game Empire at War and its expansion Forces of Corruption, as do all solid projectiles, including grenades, rockets, concussion missiles, diamond-boron missiles, carbonite missiles, mass driver rounds and hypervelocity gun rounds. In all other sources, proton torpedoes are unaffected by energy, or “ray”, shields but blocked by particle shields, and most shield systems incorporate both types of shields, though a sizeable volley of proton torpedoes, as demonstrated by Rogue Squadron on many occasions, is often more than an enemy ship’s shields can withstand.
