I’m guessing that you are referring to an Indian Ringneck aka Rose-ringed, Alexandrine, or Neumann’s Parakeet. You should check the laws regarding native wildlife in your country. If you are in India or Asia, it may be illegal to keep a native wild bird like an Indian Ringneck. In the US, and the rest of North America, it’s illegal to keep native wild birds, but legal to keep some exotic species. If it’s a young fledgling, native, and born of wild parents, it should be returned to it’s parents (best option), or given to a wildlife rehabilitator. If this is someone’s pet bird – before making any decisions you should attempt to locate the owner. Post found notices locally and on-line, and contact local animal shelters, pet bird rescues and local vets. If the bird is very tame and in good condition, it is probably someone’s beloved pet.
