Can some one give me a basic description of the Islamic belief system?
Basic beliefs of Islam can be found on the two sentence shahādatāin (“two sentences testimony”), which is “Laa ilaha illallah, Muhammad ur Rasulullah” – which means “no god but Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of God.” But when someone believes and then say two sentences of this testimony, meaning he already can be regarded as a Muslim or a convert (people who are new to Islam than his old beliefs). Muslims believe that God revealed the Koran to Muhammad as Khataman Nabiyyin (Closing of the Prophets) and assume that the Koran and Sunna (Muhammad’s every word and deed) as the fundamental sources of Islam. They do not regard Muhammad as pengasas new religion, but rather as a reformer of monotheistic faith of Abraham, Moses, Jesus and other Prophets (to further, please read the article on the Prophets and Messengers in Islam).
