Can somebody help me answer some peacock (peafowl) questions?
I had a pet peahen for a while, so here’s my take on your questions: 1.) Peafowl are mostly prey- while they can feed on small insects and similar creatures, that is not their preferred food source. In the wild, they would be the prey of big cats, wolves, etc. However, they are far more common in captivity (in which poachers would be their greatest “natural” enemy.) 2.) My pet never mated, so I don’t have any firsthand knowledge about egg clutches or brooding times. 4.) Females can flock together in small groups; males are territorial and will compete for females (so they will not group together). However, they are perfectly content to live alone as well. 5.)
