There were other scandals going on, but the Teapot Dome scandal was the most famous at the time.Teapot Dome was a political scandal started by Albert Fall, in 1921. The scandal was named for and took place in Teapot Dome, Wyoming. Teapot was named for its unusual shape. The US Navy owned Teapot Dome, WY, after they were awarded almost 80,000 acres in oil rich land. The land was to be used for a National Defense Emergency. These 80,000 acres included Elk Hills and Kern County in California along with Teapot Dome in Wyoming.
