The previous answer is correct. Preparation for the transition from employment to retirement is taken very seriously by some organisations. Some provide training and others gradually reduce the number of working days per week during the last six months of employment. Many have retirement groups and various forms of networking to enable the individual to maintain some contact. Some also use the sabbatical model to give experience of planning and using a period away from the organisation’s structure. The end of employment does not, of course, mean and end to learning.
