Can someone point me to good information on Canadas National Debt?

I can’t seem to get a clear picture of Canada’s national debt. I had a friend and explain to me that Canada has absolutely no debt whatsoever, until the recent deficit of this year. I haven’t really studied the details of our national debt, whatsoever, but after doing a quick Google search i found this site. http://www.debtclock.ca/ I know there tends to be a lot of good information and bad information out there on the internet, so i’m hoping someone from here can point me in the right direction as to where to understand where exactly Canada stands in terms of Debt.
