Can someone tell me the name of the best hotel in Chiang Mai?
My wife (who is Thai) and I like the Chiang Mai Plaza Hotel. Their website is somewhat lame and does not do them any justice. I will include the link but click on the “General” button (2nd one) on their home page to get a decent idea of what they really look like on the inside. We have been to Chiang Mai several times and really love this old city. It is my wife’s favorite vacation spot in the Kingdom. There is a wonderful boutique hotel just outside the gates of the Chiang Mai plaza which is significantly more expensive but exquisite in the old Lana style. I do not remember the name unfortunately. The Chiang Mai Plaza itself is very reasonable but well located and very nice. On our 1st trip we stayed at the Ping on the river and it was a little “tired”. Later we stayed at the Sheraton which is great but plastic in that American corporate way. there are however a lot of mixed Thai Farang (white) couples that come there for Christmas with their families and it makes for a great atmosphe
