Can taking birth control pills while you are (unknowingly) pregnant cause harm to the fetus?

I was homeless at the time, so I wasn’t keeping very good track of things like menstruation cycles. I realized I was pregnant around Christmas and I had my baby (two weeks late) in July, and was still taking the pill until I took the pregnancy test. The only reason I even took the test was because I kept getting sick every time I tried to drink at parties. I would smell the alcohol and puke before even taking a drink! I know that it does give her baby a higher risk of miscarriage or even birth defects, but that doesn’t mean that it will happen. My baby was perfectly healthy, and high rates of miscarriage run in my family. She should just make sure the doctor or midwife knows what happened so they can watch for any complications that might be associated with it.
