Can the Hip-Hop Caucus Lead the Next Civil Rights Movement?
By Tonia Rice The Hip-Hop Caucus (H2C) is a nonprofit, non-partisan, membership association set to make an indelible mark on the Hip-Hop political scene. Established to serve as an umbrella organization in efforts to mobilize the energy, activism, and resources of the Hip-Hop community on national and international levels through grassroots initiatives, H2C has already formed a buzz that cannot be ignored. The organization’s purpose speaks to establishing a comprehensive agenda that, among other things, promotes social and political equality in the areas of Economics, Education, HealthCare, Housing and Justice. Although particularly relevant for today’s society, the mission of H2C is strikingly similar to that of the civil rights movement of the 50’s and 60’s.
