Can the Padres upgrade their offense at home?
Perhaps they don’t have to. They were 47-34 at home last year despite batting .235 at Petco Park while averaging 4.0 runs per game. Their opponents also batted .235 there, but hit only 45 home runs to the Padres’ 72 and scored 45 fewer runs, averaging 3.4 per game. Four runs will win a lot of games at the Padres’ home field, which has yielded fewer runs since it opened than any other major league park.
