Yes, our RTSP server implementation can, in principle, stream to RTSP-compliant STBs. In practice, however, there are some issues to note: • Many (most?) STBs do not support RTP; instead, they handle streams of raw-UDP packets. There is currently no standard way to use the RTSP protocol to request raw-UDP streams, so different STB (and server) manufacturers tend to define their own (often incompatible) RTSP extensions for this. • STBs typically handle only MPEG Transport Streams, not Elementary Streams or other data formats. (Because MPEG Transport Streams contain their own timestamps, they can be streamed via raw-UDP, with RTP timestamps not being required.) • Some STBs do not handle multicast streams.
