Can virgins use tampons?

A virgin can wear a tampon. I did for a number of years til a medical problem not related to the tampon occurred. I know that my mom was concerned about me using tampons because she was afraid I would lose my virginity because of the breaking of the hymenal area that covers over the vaginal opening. But the hymen can break for lots of reasons such as trying to use a tampon or even a fall. The true sense of the word “virgin” is someone who has never had sex. The brand I found worked best for me was using a brand called Ob because I didn’t have to worry about cardboard applicators. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well.

You absolutely can use a tampon. Your hymen (which is the covering of membrane that make you a virgin) can not be reached by a tampon and thus will not be ruptured. You would probably be more comfortable using a “mini” or “lite” tampon as these are the slimmest on the market. My mother used to think this – it is such an old wive’s tale. I am the third daughter so thank heaven’s she got over it by the time I was menstruating – although she made me wait until I was about 16. Summer holidays at the beach or pool aren’t too fun when you can’t wear tampons.
