Can we lead a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-diverse world?
I am in no way agreeing with the beating of one child by another, but I found it interesting that the students who hung the noose were merely suspended. If hanging the noose is not a hate related incident bordering on a threat and conspiracy, what is? The principal of this school in all fairness should have been fired. I have seen disparity in treatments of black families versus white families in my predominantly white neighborhood. I have seen these disparities every day and like many people, I would rather turn a blind eye and pretend it does not exist, but pretending and knowing are two different things. As a country, we seriously need to re-evaluate ourselves. We cannot tout ourselves as leaders of the free world when freedoms have not changed in our backyards. When the color of ones skin is more significant than justice, truth and pursuit of fairness, we have not progressed.
