This is a very large school system that went to year-round schooling because of population growth coupled with painful cuts in state funding for education, which resulted in severe overcrowding. Demographically this is a very different system from Auburns. For example, this is a large urban system that includes a sizeable population of students with limited proficiency in English. 2. The transition to year-round schooling alleviated much of the overcrowding.
