Which is more challenging for you, a play or a musical? It’s impossible to generalize. If you’re in a musical that works, there’s nothing greater, and if you’re in a play that works, there’s nothing greater. If you’re in a musical that doesn’t work, it’s challenging. If you’re in a drama that doesn’t work, it’s challenging. If you’re in a comedy that doesn’t work, that’s just awful. There’s no doubt that the hardest work you can do as an actor is in the professional theater. It’s hard in ways that people who haven’t done it can’t imagine.
