Can you breastfeed while taking coumadin and lovenox?

Breastfeeding on some medicines can be dangerous, as it flows into your milk ducts & a portion of the medication is transferred to the baby. It can be a tricky – one thing if you’ve been on the medicines throughout your pregnancy, as the baby grows accustomed to the meds that way (and in some cases dependent upon them). If you weren’t on those medicines throughout your pregnancy, however, it wouldn’t be the safest thing to breastfeed while taking them. If you’re only to be on these medicines for a short period of time, a possibility would be to pump (in order to keep up milk supply) and throw the milk away for now. Once the medicine is out of your system, try getting your baby to attach. It can be tough (after babies have been on the bottle, they’re frequently resistant to working for their milk), but it can be done with determination. If worse comes to worse, keep on pumping & switch your baby off the formula and onto your milk when that day comes. p.s. I certainly would not recommend

No. Those medications are extreme bloodthinners. Just from you taking them alone indicates that you have had a blood clot in your body. The medication can enter the breastmilk and can affect your child seriously.
