Can you claim money out of natwest insurance?

Natwest Insurance is almost certainly going to be underwritten by “UK Insurance Ltd” which (like Natwest) is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. This is the same as if you bought through Direct line, Churchill or (I believe) Tescos. I’m assuming you have their ‘essential contents’ cover so there’s a £25 excess which they chop off to start. The policy also says they will only pay what it would cost them to replace or repair. This may be lower than what it would cost you since they may have bulk discount agreements with certain retailers. So the upshot is yes, you can probably get cash (or a store voucher for somewhere like Dixons) and you can certainly spend it on what you like (not necessarily a new ipod) but be aware you may not get as much as you think you will.
