The Bookeye scanner does not come in contact with the object being scanned, as it is an overhead (or planetary scanner). It’s reader head remains about 2 feet from the scanned surface. Components within the head move, but the head does not move. Take a look at the picture of the Bookeye on our web site if you have not seen one yet. If you were scanning a book, the page of the book being scanned could be nearly 4 inches from the scanner bed surface. If it is taller than 4 inches or so, the surface will not be in focus.
