Religious Perspectives on Organ Donations Before I give you my answer on this question I have done a little search to help us see into the issue of organ donation. Yes you can have an open-casket after donating organs, and eye tissue, too. I have personally helped dress people who had donated skin, too, and they are clothed in a plastic zip-up "suit" over which their burial clothing can be placed. The retinas are covered by the closed eye-lids, and the other organs are replaced by "stuffing" so as to enable the body to resemble the shape it had before. These donated organs bring life, sight, and good health to the recipients, and can bring peace to the family of the donor - letting them know that their loved one "lives on" in others - giving life from death, as it were. It's not ooky or icky, but a very profound statement about the value of life. You are more than a dead animal, too. Although, I believe we should have more respect for all living things.

Sure. Shouldn't be a problem. Of course if the organ you donated was your skin, some of the mourners might get a little uncomfortable at an open-casket service.

They DO sew you up after y'know, and dress your body before a funeral. It's not like they'd leave you naked and still opened up.
