Can you get an abnormal ECG EKG caused from anixety can they tell the difference?
Fast heart rate and palpitations are a symptom of hyperthyroidism but I presume they have done a TFT, what was the result? Hyperthyroidism (over active thyroid) causes fast heart rate because the increased level of thyroxine causes most of the bodily functions to speed up. The ECG would have excluded a pathological cardiac cause for your fast HR. Anxiety can cause fast heart rate, yes. But we can tell the difference between a pathological problem and anxiety. The Beta blocker won’t stop the psychological feeling of anxiety but it will reduce the fast heart rate and physical symptoms associated with anxiety.
