Can you get pregnant during you most fertile days but after the day of ovulation?
The normal “cycle” is 28 days. If for instance a woman starts her period on the first day of the month this means that her body is removing the egg that it produced the month before but that didn’t become fertilised. The old egg is removed in the mentrual blood. In other words it wipes the slate clean and starts again. So, she has started her period on the first and it can last from two days to six days. She will not produce another egg, or ovulate, until the 14th day from the first day of the period. Sperm though can survive for up to 4 days in the uterus so it is possible to have unprotected sex up to 4 days before ovulation on the and yet still become pregnant. If you then factor in an extra day as a safety margin this makes 5 days. This means that if you have unprotected sex after the 9th of the month then you can become pregnant. Most cycles are 28 days long but some women have shorter cycles and some have longer.
