Can you graduate high school as a foreign exchange student in Germany?

I’m currently on a program in Japan as a highschool exchange student and they said I can’t graduate. If you get credits for highschool from being in Germany, and your school approves them, you can graduate back where you come from. I’ve already graduated in my home country, so it might be different for me.
