A veggie tray and a fruit tray is always good to have. If you have time in the evenings there are recipes that you can make at night that will be sure to please your kids. Here’s a website full of good and healthy food for your kids. http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/ff/bts/snac… A good alternative to soda would be water, juice, Gatorade or crystal light. Normally when kids get home they are hunger and cranky and they need something energizing so they can get their homework done without feeling sluggish. Good luck Oh and PS at they the age they are you might be able to find some make a head recipes that has a long shelf life and they can help you make them. You can always take them to the store with you to pick things out, let them be involved and see them smiling knowing they are helping mommie.

Looks like you live in India, huh? Here’s one for you.You might already know this if you’re south Indian. Puffed rice snack Ingredients: * puffed rice (called borugulu or maramaralu in Telugu) * red onion * tomatoes * grated carrot * chopped cilantro * lemon juice * red chilli powder * oil * salt and some hot & spicy peanuts Procedure: -Then take a big bowl, add the puffed rice, 1 or 2 teaspoons of oil and mix well. – Now add salt and the chilli powder. The oil makes the salt and the chilli powder stick to it, without the oil the salt and chilli powder just settles in the bottom. -Add red onion (not too much), tomato, grated carrot, cilantro and freshly squeezed lemon juice. -Taste and re-season accordingly. Serve it, topped with some hot and spicy peanuts. http://madhusvantalu.files.wordpress.com… You’ll find the puffed rice at any local supermarket.

Graham crackers and peanut butter Triscuits and cheese Celery with ranch dip Carrots with ranch dip Pita bread with turkey, ham, (whichever cold cuts they like) with whatever condiments on hand, mustard, mayo, etc. with lettuce Wraps…really great snack/meal here: You can buy wraps in grocery store. Take cream cheese and smooth over wrap, place lettuce, tomatoes, and cold cuts and fold it up and there ya go. Cereal is a great healthy snack as well. IF they can use the microwave a good “treat” is smores: Graham crackers, chocolate bar and marshmallows. YUMMY! (however not really healthy) I find that kids really like veggies (raw) dipped in ranch dressing. Also celery sticks with peanut butter inside and place raisins (looks like ants on a log). Always keep good quality wholewheat bread, or small focaccias and baguettes in your kitchen. Focaccias and baguettes freeze beautifully. Make home made spreads that your kids will enjoy, to use as bases for the bruschettas – olive paste, red or green pesto, roasted red peppers with garlic and oregano, or any tomato pizzaiola base. If they like anchovies, get those tubes that you find in all supermarkets. Or you make your own tuna or ham spreads. Keep all these spreads ready in jars in the fridge. Keep all kinds of bruschetta toppings in your fridge – for some of the spreads above, all you really will need is some crispy lettuce – kids love baby gem lettuce! Your breads will also be wonderful with plain sliced fresh fruit topping s- and a drizzle of honey on top. Bananas, fresh figs (with prosciutto, and no honey), or any fruit combine very well… When I was young in Italy, my favourite afternoon snack was a piece of (the best) bread, with a drizzle of olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt
