Can you underpin an old house using the planning permission of the new house being built next door?

I wouldn’t attempt to underpin your house without building approval form your local council. The main issue we had when our house was underpinned was that unless you stick with the insurance company who are paying for the underpinning you will not get any building cover from any insurance company in the UK. They will not touch the property at all! I have written to the insurance ombudsman and my MP about this and there is not one company that will take on a property that has been underpinned. We now have to pay a huge sum each year to an American Insurance company but even they will not now take any property in the UK that has been underpinned. Think extremely carefully before having it done. If you sell nobody will be able to get a mortgage on the propert because they will not get any buildings cover. If it needs doing sell-up and move beofre you go down a very difficult and ecxpensive path. Do not believe these property developers you see on TV, because they do not always know everyt
