Maestro cards are accepted at almost all major ATMs, but many retailers still do not have the service needed to accept them. You can check out this link to see where you can use your Maestro – but, having worked at HSBC Bank for a couple years, I do know that these ATMs definitely allow you to withdraw cash, and HSBC ATMs are everywhere in the city. Bank of America, as well. However, you should be prepared for withdrawal fees if your bank is not HSBC (which, I believe is the only British bank in the States), or, if you are a member of Deutsche Bank (we actually have couple located here) or some other select banks in Europe, you could use a Bank of America and not get charged, as they are partnered with many international banks.
