OK, a couple things: 1. How do you know you won’t be granted a security clearance? Did the recruiter tell you that? Recruiters do not grant clearances, and are in absolutely no position to determine whether or not you will receive one. Clearances are approved by high-ranking (O-5 or GS-15 and above) people in D.C., and only after a complete background investigation is performed. BTW, very few people are denied clearances. 2. I’ve served with persons who have successfully switched MOS’s, but long after any “probationary period” has passed. Usually, it is upon re-enlistment, and only if switching from an overpopulated MOS (e.g. 71L) to an MOS with a shortage. In other words, don’t count on being able to switch anytime soon. Edit: I have never heard of a person being denied a security clearance due to “experimental” marijuana use, provided they were open and honest about the use when completing the security questionnaire.
