Can I register directly with InterNIC?
No. Many years ago, Network Solutions (InterNIC) was acquired by Verisign. After taking control of the registry component, Network Solutions was then sold off. They are no longer in control of the registry. The notion of InterNIC (Internet Network Information Center) has since been taken over by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). ICANN is responsible for accrediting registrars, not operating as a registrar or registry.
