Cant the District cut waste from its budget rather than raising taxes?
The Mt. Diablo Unified School District has cut more than $30 million from its budget this year and next year alone. That doesnt include cuts in previous years, which add millions more. The District has worked hard to keep the cuts away from the classroom, eliminating and/or dramatically reducing administration and other support staff positions, including classroom aides, janitors and other maintenance personnel, vice principals and librarians. But the continuing barrage of state budget cuts no longer makes it possible to prevent harming quality classroom education.
