Cant we eventually ban all abortion by making incremental gains?
Abortion on demand was legalized in the first place (by the Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton) because several states in the union were allowing abortions in certain circumstances. Therefore it was illogical to some members of the Supreme Court to recognize the personhood (i.e. the First and Fourteenth Amendment rights) of the preborn. Instead, they extended the right to privacy granted in Griswold v. Connecticut (which essentially legalized and mainstreamed contraception in 1965). The end result of these actions is abortion for any reason at any time during a pregnancy. Incremental gains are acceptable >I>only if they do not violate the fundamental right to life of every human person from the moment of fertilization onward.
