Christians, how did God reward Mary, the mother of Jesus, by being obedient to him?
Only non-Catholic Christians hold this attitude about Mary. We Catholics do not. Mary was rewarded even before she died — even before she was ever born, in fact. She was conceived the “natural way” as we all are, but she was conceived without the stain of original sin. She was conceived immaculately. She was born without sin. That in itself is a great reward. She was also rewarded with an “express ticket” to heaven — the Catholic Church teaches, based on Scripture and on Sacred Tradition, that she was taken directly (body and soul) to Heaven. It really bothers me how some Protestants dismiss Mary, even to the point of disparaging her. I think that is an awful way to speak about the Lord’s own mother. If we truly love someone, we also love his/her mother — unless they live their lives in a way as to forfeit it, which Mary most definitely did not. .
