Compared with existing access control mechanisms and Enterprise Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies, what is the advantage of DOFS technology?
DOFS technology can guarantee that even authorized enterprise insiders cannot leak protected files, deliberately or by mistake. Moreover, its deployment is transparent to user applications and existing IT infrastructure. In contrast, most existing access control or DRM technologies cannot stop information theft by authorized users because there is simply no access control violation. Moreover, these systems tend to tie fine-grained access control with applications such MS Office, and are not applicable to arbitrary applications.
