Considering the agitation of Niger Delta people over the years, what stage is the struggle now?
I think the stage we have now reached is that of consolidation. Without doubt, the Niger Delta people have reached a heightened point of intellectual form and bent. Violent application may have played prominent role in previous struggle but given the current scenario we have no choice than to embrace dialogue to achieve the development of the Niger Delta. At this stage we call on our children in powerful positions to remember that home is the best. At this period, the federal government should expedite action on the development of the Niger Delta. However from what we can perceive presently, there is hope that the Niger Delta people would smile in this dispensation considering the new reality in the polity. But the federal government must shed the toga of arrogance, impunity, suppression, oppression and give what is due to the Niger Delta without delay as in the past. What kind of development do you envisage for the Niger Delta?
