Could a gouldian finch live on spray millet for one week?
Absolutely not! Gouldian Finches need more than seeds or millet to be healthy. They need a well-balanced diet with green veggies (spinach, sprouting seeds), fruits, protein, grains, and cuttlebone or boiled, crushed egg shells for calcium. If seeds are all you’re feeding your Gouldian Finch, it’s lacking plenty of nutrients and can easily become ill. Respiratory infections are one of the most common illness of finches and can be caused by lack of vitamin A. In addition, fatty liver disease is often caused by all seed diet. If you want your Gouldian Finch to healthy and live a long time, start feeding it healthy foods. Also, vitamin D is needed through sunlight or a supplement (see your avian vet to determine how much to give your bird).
