I’m afraid you would shocked at what went on just after the war, yes there was obviously a shortage of German men they were either dead or in POW camps. I served in the Army of Occupation and the way I looked at it there was nothing cheaper than a German woman. Kids use to wait outside our camps and offer their sisters for Chocolate or cigs, which in Germany was the currency. For reasons I don’t know the kids called it jig a jig with my sister, a bar of Chocolate or 3 to five cigs. For a packet of coffee you could have the whole family if you wanted it, The black market was rife and again full of willing young and most often very attractive ladies for a few cigs. No I did not take advantage I was just 18 old enough to die, but not in that way!
