Could bio-mass form a viable alternate source of energy in the near future?
Surely. Thailand is using sugar cane bagasse to produce electric energy, unfortunately the efficiency is really low but it increases rapidly if gasification is used… It would can be a solution for some poor nations… For example, Mozambique would can export ethanol(from sugar) and produce from bagasse all its electric energy needs, because an hectare of sugar cane produces around 20 tonnes of dry bagasse(energetic value: 16000 kj/kg)…
