THE owners of Premier League football clubs will be watching carefully to see if rugby league’s latest innovation works. Prof Tom Cannon is confident the licence system offers investors more certainty, making it a more attractive proposition. He said: “In a sense, you can be confident that you know what you are buying. It’s a natural inclination, whether it’s a box of chocolates or a rugby league club. “If you are coming in to buy a club which has a licence, you have the certainty it will be playing in Super League until at least 2011. You know what you are buying and you know what you have to invest in.
