As James said, D-Lux 4 has tiny sensor compared to X1. Larger sensor should translate to higher image quality and will mean less depth of field. D-Lux 4 has multiple formats and zoom lens. Zoom lens is f/2 at its widest, compared to X1’s f/2.8. D-Lux 4’s lens is 24mm equivalent at its widest, compared to 36mm equivalent on X1.
