Could someone please advise me on how to potty train my dog , he is a mix breed dachshund?
About three months ago I got a dog, and crate training was the best thing out there! She loves her crate, and will go in her crate on her own to sleep or play. It it also a wonderful thing to have when my boyfriend and I can not be home to watch her (she’s still a puppy and loves getting into things when we’re not looking). We got our dog use to the crate by feeding her in it, and praising her when she did go in and eat. We also would put treats and her toys in there, and when she would go in and get it we would again praise her and pet her. Within a week we felt safe enough to leave her in there alone for a couple hours and she did great. She was somewhat potty trained when we got her, but the crate helped a lot with it. Take your dog out before you put him in the crate, leave for an hour (no more than four though), come back, take your dog out right away, and praise/treat when they use the bathroom.
