Couldn it be argued that homosexual unions can be beneficial to society when they choose to adopt children?

Rearing children is a most worthy vocation which the Church has always supported and encouraged. One might suppose, therefore, that homosexual couples who wish to adopt children should be commended. Yet by their nature, homosexual unions cannot offer what the Church recognizes as a suitable environment for the rearing of the young child. The relationship between the homosexual “parents” is intrinsically disordered and extremely confusing to the young child. It is also inherently unstable, lacking the fidelity and permanence so important for the child’s development. Homosexual activists will often claim a civil right to adopt children. Yet a child is not a commodity to be claimed or distributed according to some alleged “right,” but a unique creation of God, made in his image and likeness.
