The real benefit may be in that your carpet actually stays cleaner longer. But trying to quantify this benefit is impossible. Theres just too many variables. Ive the ‘protectant experts’ and I cant pin any of them down on anything. I’ve observed that the bigger the name, the more they just ‘expect us’ to believe them when they say there is a benefit. Carpet cleaners charge 50% over and above the cost of carpet cleaning for protectants. Some guys charge 80-90% over. Some just double the price. That’s a lot of money for something that we can’t see/ I can’t believe more people don’t question the value. Your average carpet cleaning company who has all their technicians on commission are out there ‘pushing’ protectant on people like its a fine wine. Why wouldn’t they? They’re making a whopping $350/hour profit selling the stuff. Thats one of the real issues: its sheer profit for everybody from the chemical manufacturers down to the carpet cleaner.
