Typically beef cattle do not have their feet trimmed on a regualr basis. The difference is in the diet that dairy cattle consume as compared to beef cows and the surface that they are exposed to. Dairy cows spend some time on concrete as compared to grass pastures for beef cows. On occation it may be necessary to trim the feet of a beef bull if problems occur, but that is not a common practice. So the bottom line, if in a beef herd you have feet and leg problems, use genetics and selection to eliminate this from the herd because you don’t have the labor, money, and facilities to deal with these problems.
