“can anyone please explain these loving verses in the Bible?” They don’t need explaining. They’re the ravings of misogynists, sadists and-or psychopaths. God says he will bring evil upon all flesh. 45:5 The day of the Lord will be “a day of vengeance.” On that day God’s sword will become drunk with blood. 46:10 God plans to drown the Philistines in a flood, and “all the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.” 47:2 God plans to kill just about everybody. “No city shall escape.” 48:8 “Cursed by he that keepeth back his sword from blood.” 48:10 God will destroy everyone in Moab. 1) Dear Loving Xtians & Curious Atheists, can anyone please explain these loving verses in the Bible? Are these verses the true word of God for all ages to be followed even today? Yes. 2) the slavery verse – yes, that is to be followed today, and devout Jews follow it faithfully – with all of the rest of the verses of the Mosaic Law, which tell them that they must abide by the rulings of a duly-appointed judge. Yes, even if that judge rules that slavery is not permitted. The verse doesn’t say, “you may purchase male or female slaves *with no restrictions whatsoever*”. Restrictions are now in place – in nearly all nations – that prevent devout Jews from doing what this verse permits them, specifically, to do. It’s the same as saying, “People are allowed to drive” “No one is allowed to drive a tricycle on the interstate” The restriction excludes all interstate-only tricycle drivers from driving, even though the permissive statement, unrestricted, allows them to do so.
