And if we will not believe the prophets, then we will not believe even if a man named Lazarus (Luke 16:27-31) were to come back from the dead. He did (John 12:10), and yet we still think we are wiser than God and His holy prophets. We appear to be so intoxicated with our own ideas about how God might be or should be–our own personal idol–that we seem have little interest in the God who IS and can speak. Someday we will be face to face with God, and then we will see Who was right, and what the consequences for rejecting God’s self disclosure will be.
