Then they couldn’t have control of their money, buy property, own businesses, eat in public restaurants, attend non-Jewish schools… each step of degradation was taken in stride for the most part. “If this is the worst of it, we can handle this.” Most of Europe had a kind of optomistic view of the situation in a way: Hitler and the idiology of the Nazi party were a temporary evil, and the decency of humanity would prevail. Unfortunately, apathy, and an existing anti-Semetic attitude in areas of Europe, allowed it to go on for as long as it did, and the Nazi party was able to grow in power because of a kind of snowball effect.
