Did Aristotle and Greeks know that Earth was geo-spherical?

0

Aristotle noted around roughly 300BCE that there was evidence in a round Earth, particularly in the lunar cyles having circular derived shapes. Eratosthenes in 240BCE actually calculated the circumference of the Earth by comparing observations taken at exactly noon on the summer solstice. His observations were roughly correct. Over the next few centuries other writers also acknowledged the Earth to be round. thus the knowledge was widely available to anyone literate after the first century CE. So, the Quran is drawing off of knowledge already available. Which makes sense sinc Islam would be one of the factors preserving much of the classical literature through the so called Dark Ages.
